House rules
Editorial standards
This page is the short constitution of the desk. If a piece cannot meet it, it does not run — including guest copy accepted under the write-for-us guidelines.
Independence
Staff writers are not paid to obtain a takedown for a named client. We may accept a clearly labelled sponsored mention. Those links use rel="sponsored", as on the contributor page. Advertising does not choose headlines, and it does not kill a story.
Sources
Prefer the primary text: the Online Safety Act, the Uniform Defamation Acts, an eSafety Commissioner publication, a platform help centre article with a date, a judgment. Secondary blogs are colour, not authority. When guidance changes — and platform forms change often — we update the article and keep the updated date honest.
No reproduction of harm
We do not embed non-consensual intimate images, doxxing dumps, or the full text of a defamatory post. We describe the category of material and the route that applies. Articles in the image and safety hub assume the reader already has the URL and does not need it printed.
Corrections
Factual errors are corrected in the body, not hidden in a footnote. Send evidence through contact. If we got a statute, a form URL or a time limit wrong, that is a front-of- piece fix.
Conflicts and the limits of this journal
Contributors disclose retainers, shareholdings and prior work for platforms or removal firms. We are not your lawyers. Nothing here is a substitute for advice in the jurisdiction that hosts the page or the person. For a map of the library see topic hubs and the about page.
